Selecting Indicators

The methodology above works as a decision tree to eliminate inapplicable and unobtainable indicators. Documenting each indicator’s path through the decision tree is a necessary part of GRI reporting.

The methodology was used to select three new indicators for our 2013 CSR report. We are reporting on the 15 indicators covered last year. The indicator selection process was streamlined after last year’s baseline report. The selection process includes the Global Reporting Initiative’s principles for defining report content and quality. The GRI reporting principles covered are Materiality, Stakeholder Inclusiveness, Sustainability Context, and Completeness.

Looking Forward

  • Include relevant indicators that align with stakeholder priorities disclosed in this year’s stakeholder forums
  • Fully report on all indicators selected
