NODE-BT - Troubleshooting Guide

Controller not appearing in scan list or loses connection
Solution 1 – Restart Bluetooth Radio Steps:
  1. Close all apps on your smartphone device.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth radio on your smartphone device.
  3. Wait 2 minutes.
  4. Turn on the Bluetooth radio on your smartphone device (after 2 minutes of rest).
  5. Open the Hunter app on your smartphone device.
  6. Be in range and scan for your controller.
  7. Press the Connect button.
Solution 2 – Full Reset Steps:
  1. Delete the existing Hunter app on your smartphone device.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth radio on your smartphone device.
  3. Restart your smartphone.
  4. Download the Hunter app for your Hunter Bluetooth controller.
  5. Turn on the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios on your smartphone device.
  6. Enable Location Services permissions in your smartphone’s location settings. (This is a requirement for all BLE devices)
  7. Open the Hunter app on your smartphone device.
  8. Be in range and scan for your controller.
  9. Press the Connect button.
Additional Solutions:
  • Move closer than 50' (15 m) of the controller or replace the batteries. (2 - 9V alkaline batteries)
  • Verify battery strength and cycle controller by pulling the batteries.
  • Accept permissions: "Location Tracking" or manually enable permissions in smartphone settings. Reconnect to the controller.
  • Verify phone and app compatibility in smartphone settings or update to the latest software version:
    • iOS version 9.0 or above
    • Android version 5.0 or above
Visible controller, but cannot connect or stay connected; receives Errors

Cause:

  • Low battery.
  • Incompatible smartphone.

Solution

  • Cycle controller batteries.
  • Reboot smartphone.
  • Reinstall Hunter NODE-BT App.
  • Reset Phone Network Settings
  • Verify Phone and App compatibility: iOS 9.0 or above, and Android 5.0 or above
Manual button press not responding

Cause:

  • Dead battery.

Solution

  • Replace the batteries (1 or 2 9V alkaline batteries).
App shows running, but no watering

Cause:

  • No water pressure.
  • Faulty or incompatible solenoid.
  • Connected to wrong device.
  • Turns on then off.

Solution

  • Turn on main system water supply.
  • Replace solenoid. (Must use Hunter DC latching solenoid (P/N 458200) or other compatible DC latching solenoid.)
  • Reconnect to controller.
  • Used AC solenoid. Must be DC solenoid.
Automatic irrigation does not start at start time

Cause:

  • NODE-BT in System Off mode.
  • AM/PM or 24-hour start time not set correctly
  • Water days not set correctly.
  • Cycle and Soak is enabled.
  • Sensor Alarm is detected (Soil sensor, Clik-Delay, or Rain/Clik sensor)

Solution

  • Verify that NODE-BT is programmed for automatic watering.
  • Correct AM/PM or 24-hour start time.
  • Correct water days.
  • Disable Sensors or Station settings.
Controller repeats cycles

Cause:

  • NODE-BT has more than one start time assigned to it. Each station has up to eight start times for each of the three programs./li>
  • Cycle and Soak waters in intervals.

Solution

  • Eliminate device start times as needed.
  • Correct the Cycle and Soak Times in station settings.
Incorrect or change controller passcode

Cause:

  • Forgot passcode.

Solution

  • Remove controller batteries.
  • Wait one minute.
  • Press and Hold Stop Station Button while reinserting the batteries until Battery Check LED turns amber.
  • Create new passcode in NODE-BT app.
Rain or Soil sensor does not suspend watering

Cause:

  • Rain or Soil sensor is defective or miswired.

Solution

  • Verify proper operation of the rain or soil sensor and wire connections.
