NPT or National Pipe Thread has become a US standard for tapered threads used on pipe and fittings. The taper rate for all NPT thread is 1.6 mm. When torque is applied to an NPT fitting compression will cause the flanks to create a seal; as opposed to the alternative parallel or straight thread fittings, which thread merely to hold pieces together not to provide a seal.

Edit Decoders: This option only appears in VSX/IDS Field Decoder Controllers. Decoder controllers are always configured for 103 stations, plus a Pump output. Each station has a corresponding decoder installed in the field, connected to a two-wire path.

The Edit Decoder function allows you to change the assignments of decoder identification numbers to station numbers in the field.

This can be used whenever a decoder is replaced, added, or exchanged with another decoder, after initial setup.

The first practice in troubleshooting “Revolving Messages” is press the CLEAR button 3 times to remove old invalid messages. When a message is generated, it will continue to be present even if the error has internally corrected. This is by design to inform the user that there is/was a controller incident.

Note: When the term “CLEAN” is stated below, power down the controller and use a soft toothbrush and alcohol to gently break away deposits.

Line Fault: This display indicates a power or wiring related problem. Generally it will appear if an IDS or VSX controller has detected an Overload condition (transformer current draw in excess of 2 amps), and no stations were scheduled to be running. If there were no stations running but a 2 + amp current was sensed, this would indicate a direct short circuit in the two wire path, or a potential transformer problem.

To test one of the main component behind the two wire path's power supply (Decoder Output Board), follow these steps:

No display: Check power connections. It's possible the fuse on the power supply board (PSB) has blown, and the controller will not power up until it has been replaced. The fuse is an AGC, 3 amp, fast-blow only.

Turn the riser upside down, remove the filter screen and view the stator area. Notice the black part with the three sections extending outward from the center (fig 1). This black part on G80 risers is called the adjustable stator plate. Beneath the adjustable stator plate is a gray non-removable part with the three openings. This part is called the stator. The stator has a series of numbers engraved into the plastic. These numbers are the nozzle size reference numbers.
