As stewards of the environment and the communities in which we live, work, and play, Hunter Industries is committed to finding a path toward sustainability. To us, that means achieving a balance between the People we impact, the Planet we affect, and the Profits we generate.

What we’ve discovered over the course of our sustainability movement is that we cannot achieve our goals alone. That’s why this year we created the Ann Hunter- Welborn Circle of Excellence Award. Named after our sustainability program founder, this award is intended to highlight the great things our customers are doing to promote sustainability.

Our internal selection committee has identified four inaugural award recipients from a field of 14 nominations by our sales team: landscape architecture firm Studio- MLA of Los Angeles, Calif.; landscape architect Carl Kominsky of Tucson, Ariz.; environmentally conscious Butte College of Oroville, Calif.; and green wall and green roof consulting firm Fytogreen of Somerville, Australia.

“We’d like to sincerely thank the award winners — and everyone who was nominated — for their efforts to drive sustainability through innovative initiatives, projects, and services in the landscape architecture sphere,” said Bryce Carnehl, Corporate Sustainability Manager at Hunter Industries.

Studio-MLA was selected for demonstrating how landscape architecture can be used as a tool to connect individuals and urban spaces through a holistic design approach that effortlessly incorporates the natural environment.

Kominsky was recognized for his steadfast dedication to water conservation, as well as his willingness to share his vast knowledge with emerging professionals to ensure best water conservation practices, which helps build a resilient industry.

Butte College was chosen for its dedication to providing a world-class education in an environment that is both safe and environmentally conscious, and for its investments and achievements in renewable energy production and water management.

Finally, Fytogreen was selected for its dedication to incorporating green spaces into built environments, which provides heat island cooling effects, oxygen production, carbon sequestration, and habitat for local flora and fauna.

Hunter Industries would like to sincerely thank the award winners — and everyone who was nominated — for their efforts to drive sustainability through innovative initiatives, projects, and services in the landscape architecture sphere.
