Located near the city of Pattaya in Eastern Thailand, Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club features 27 picture-perfect holes of world-class golf. Its three courses are nestled on rolling fairways lined with grasses, trees, shrubs, lakes, and bunkers. The Mountain Course affords golfers an exquisite view of a large sheer precipice that features a laser-carved image of Buddha. The Lakes Course challenges golfers to keep their drives on line, while the Ocean Course — with its stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand — is a favorite of golfers of all abilities.
In the competitive Thailand golf market, being the closest golf course to the popular tourist city of Pattaya means Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club is always busy. To keep the property in pristine condition, the owner, Ms. Chanya Swangchitr, wanted to install a new irrigation system in the lightning-prone Ocean and Mountain courses, which were built in 1993. She also wanted to keep the existing irrigation system operational to supply the third nine.
Hunter’s Pilot® field controllers were an ideal match for Ms. Swangchitr and her team, who appreciated the simple, reliable manual procedures for daily grow-in irrigation. Staff members could also control the automatic schedules from the flow-balanced Pilot Central Control program for nighttime irrigation. In addition, the property was renovated with hundreds of new water-efficient G series rotors and ICV valves.
Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club was one of the first courses in Asia to install a Hunter Pilot Central Control system. The system fits perfectly with the management style of the superintendent. The mix of daily manual operation by the ground staff from the Pilot FC controllers and flow-balanced nighttime irrigation set by the superintendent via the Pilot Central Control software helps this tropical golf club maintain its impeccable condition.
